DMX brings together fans and creators to collaborate on digital media projects. DMX enables the creators to get their projects funded and fans to fund those projects.

Problem

The conventional model of funding for digital media projects often relied on intermediary structures and lacked direct engagement between creators and their audience. This disconnect hindered creators' ability to secure funding and inhibited fans from actively participating in supporting projects aligned with their interests. Bridging this gap and establishing a seamless collaborative environment presented a significant challenge.

My Role and Responsibilities

In this seven week long project, I worked as a UX Designer for the DMX Project. I did user research, created customer journey, defined the personas and competitors, created the design and prototype in Figma.

Competitive Analysis

I researched websites such as FanCLB and GigaStar in order to find what technologies were being used. The critical functionalities in these apps consisted on the ability to connect Creators with Artists.

FanCLB

FANCLB is a platform that empowers creators with all the needed tools to unlock new revenue streams. It is not a website, not another app & definitely not another links page. FANCLB is where you can showcase your work, sell memberships, merch, and digital content, connect with fans, and grow your community.

GigaStar

Creators can collect potential future revenue through a public revenue-share offering, enabling individual and institutional investors to participate in the Creator Economy.

Customer Journey

Create a three column solution where the provider can have access to the messaging inbox, chat box and the patient information. Provider should be able to view patient vitals and a summary of the patient's information.

User Testing

Usertesting.com was used to conduct the testing of the first prototype. During user testing sessions, participants engaged with DMX's interface and functionalities, aiming to evaluate its efficacy in bridging the gap between creators and their audience. Users appreciated the platform's intuitive design, which facilitated seamless navigation and accessibility. Participants commended DMX for its clear presentation of project details, enabling creators to effectively showcase their ideas and engage fans. The collaborative nature of the platform garnered positive feedback, as users found it easy to support and fund projects aligned with their interests. Participants noted that DMX successfully streamlined the process of connecting creators with their fanbase, offering new avenues for funding innovative projects. Overall, user testing highlighted DMX's success in revolutionizing traditional paradigms by fostering a direct, collaborative relationship between creators and fans in the digital media landscape.

Implementation

DMX's interface was intuitively crafted, prioritizing user experience to ensure easy navigation and accessibility for both creators and fans. Creators could showcase their projects, outlining details, progress, and funding goals. Fans, in turn, could explore diverse projects, engage with creators, and contribute funds directly through the platform.
The platform's UX design emphasized simplicity and clarity, offering seamless interactions and straightforward pathways for both creators and fans. Intuitive features like project categorization, progress tracking, and secure payment systems enhanced the overall user experience.

Takeaways - What I learned

During the seven week long project, I learned a lot from my peers. The implementation of DMX transformed the digital media landscape. Creators experienced newfound empowerment, securing funding directly from their fanbase. Simultaneously, fans reveled in the opportunity to actively support and engage with the projects they believed in, fostering a sense of ownership and community.
The platform's success was underscored by its ability to facilitate meaningful connections between creators and fans, resulting in the realization of innovative digital media projects that might have otherwise struggled to secure funding through conventional channels.
